1. SEWA founder Ela Bhatt appointed new Gujarat Vidyapith Chancellor i. The Gujarat Vidyapith, a deemed university founded by Mahatma Gandhi, has appointed 82-year-old Ela Bhatt, the founder of Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) , as its new Chancellor.  ii. Bhatt will succeed Narayan Desai, who left the post due to his health. 2. International meet on maritime trade i. Around 200 delegates from 20 nations will attend a three-day international conference on 'India and the Indian Ocean: Renewing Maritime Trade and Civilisational Linkages' to be held in Bhubaneshwar from on March 20. ii. 1. RBI eases bank loan rules for low-cost housing i. With a view to encourage availability of affordable housing to such borrowers, it has been decided that in cases where the cost of the house does not exceed Rs 10 lakh , banks may add stamp duty, registration and other documentation charges to the cost of the unit for calculating LTV (loan to value) ratio  ii. In cases of projects sponsored by government, statutory authorities, banks may disburse the loans as per the payment stages prescribed by such authorities, even where payments sought from house buyers are not linked to the stages of construction.  2.
